Stéphane Orlando
It appeals to an intergenerational, cultivated or neophyte audience, who seeks to leave conventional formats in order to live an embodied experience. It is for those who want to feel slowly, intensely, and consciously. For those who still believe in the power of sound to tell, awaken, transform.

Journey
Stéphane Orlando composes for film, opera, and the scene.
Currently composer-in-residence at the Grand Manège in Namur (CAV&MA), he is developing a series of ambitious vocal and instrumental projects. This follows his residency with the Liège Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (2022–2025), where he explored a vast symphonic spectrum ranging from musical theatre to a bassoon concerto. His work was honored in 2020 with the prestigious SABAM for Culture Prize, and in 2023, he received several international awards for Best Original Score, notably in San Francisco, Tokyo, and Toronto.
An expert in the relationship between sound and image, he has accompanied silent films at CINEMATEK since 2001, with over 500 live performances to his credit. This mastery of improvisation shapes his pedagogical work: he teaches improvisation at the Geneva University of Music (HEM) and co-presides over the European network IMMSANE.
A musicologist (ULB) and graduate of the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Mons, he has served as President of both the Belgian Society for Music Analysis (2009–2016) and the Forum de la Création Musicale (2015–2023), maintaining a long-standing commitment to the vitality of the Belgian musical landscape.
