Fuun Jo Shi, The Castle in the Wind and the Clouds
For this masterpiece of Japanese silent cinema, Stéphane Orlando has composed a score inspired by traditional Japanese music and the early 20th-century film repertoire. It is a surprising encounter between the koto and shamisen on the one hand, and violins and clarinets on the other, linked by a variety of electronic treatments within a cinematic universe that reflects traditional values.
